PRODUCT DESIGN

OCC Design System and Clearing System

At OCC, I designed a unified design system and applied it to a redesigned Clearing System, streamlining complex trade processing workflows and ensuring consistency, efficiency, and accessibility across products.

Problem

OCC's suite of clearing and risk management tools was built over many years, resulting in inconsistent interfaces, outdated workflows, and accessibility gaps. The Clearing System in particular was dense and difficult to navigate, requiring multiple manual steps for high-stakes financial transactions. These inefficiencies increased the risk of errors and slowed down operations.

Goals

The goal was twofold: first, to establish a centralized design system that would unify OCC’s digital experiences and provide reusable, accessible components for future development; second, to redesign the Clearing System interface to simplify workflows, surface critical information at the right time, and improve overall usability for operational teams.

My Contributions

I led the creation of the OCC Design System, auditing existing products to define foundational styles, components, and interaction patterns. I built the system in Figma, partnered with engineering for 1:1 coded alignment, and created documentation to drive adoption across teams. I then applied this system to the Clearing System redesign, mapping end-to-end workflows, reorganizing navigation, and improving data presentation for clarity and speed. Throughout the process, I collaborated with SMEs, product managers, and engineers to ensure compliance, performance, and operational efficiency.
